Broken

“Broken” is a part of a collective exposition of the girly comic collective Dream Team under the title “Circle of time”, which was shown in the MiTo in Warsaw in 2014. Beata Sosnowska refers in it to the iconography of the popular culture. She uses rolls of film, in which girl-actresses are the heroes. Time has stopped in the icons of children’s faces, which the author interprets as a “broken” childhood. Sosnowska filters the rolls through a screen-printing technique, distancing the viewer and herself from the cinema icons. At the same time the element of disintegration is put into a sexual context, in which young actresses have been put by the popular culture.
